Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the Training visa (subclass 407), you must meet the following requirements:

  • Have an approved sponsor as a temporary activities sponsor
  • Be nominated to participate in a program of occupational training
  • Be 18 years old or older
  • Hold a valid temporary substantive visa that is not a subclass 403 (Temporary Work (International Relations) visa in the Domestic Worker (Diplomatic or Consular stream), a subclass 771 Transit visa or a Special Purpose visa), if applying in Australia
  • Meet our health and character requirements
  • Have adequate health insurance
  • Intend to stay temporarily in Australia
  • Have functional English
  • Have signed the Australian values statement
  • Not owe any debt to the Australian government
  • Not have had a visa cancelled or a previous application refused

There are 3 types of occupational training covered by this visa, which include:

  • Occupational training required for registration
  • Occupational training to improve skills in an eligible occupation
  • Occupational training for capacity building overseas, including overseas qualifications, government support or professional development
